Inspired by Alexandre Dumas’ classic tale, this play is packed with valor, betrayal, thrilling escapes, and, most importantly, honor.
Set in the year 1625, the narrative kicks off with D’Artagnan, who embarks on a journey to Paris in pursuit of adventure. Accompanying him is his sister, Sabine, a definitive tomboy. Sent alongside D’Artagnan for a convent school education in Paris, she disguises herself as a boy – posing as D’Artagnan’s servant – and soon becomes wrapped up in her brother’s escapades. Shortly after their arrival in Paris, D’Artagnan crosses paths with the era’s renowned heroes – Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, the legendary musketeers. He allies with them to uphold the Queen of France’s honor, placing him at odds with Europe’s most formidable foe, Cardinal Richelieu. Yet more threatening is the notorious Countess de Winter, also known as Milady, who is determined to seek vengeance against D’Artagnan and Sabine for their interference. Unbeknownst to Milady, Sabine, the girl she underestimates, is destined to be the one who saves the day.

Characters: (all roles available)
Some of these characters are written within certain age groups and genders, but within reason we are looking for the best fit for the show as written regardless of actors age, race, or gender.
D’ARTAGNAN: Young, Headstrong, and Adventurous. Falls in love quickly, and falls into trouble even more so. Though he can be annoyed by his sister and her antics he is fiercely protective. He is brash and reactive, but is the epitome of goodliness and bravery that inspires others
ATHOS: Strong, Quiet, and Heartbroken. Finds joy with his comrades but is always haunted by the shadows of his past. Precise and Surgical he is possibly the greatest swordsman in France. Strictest with himself he prefers order and logic.
PORTHOS: Loud, Bawdy, and Good-Humoured, the brashest of the Three. He enjoys the finer things in life, with a short temper that is easily appeased. His fighting style is described as comic and insouciant. He is the life of the party.
ARAMIS: Romantic, Reserved, and Straight-Laced. Passionately inclined to be pious but finds himself easily entangled. He plans on leaving the service of the Musketeers and becoming a priest.
CARDINAL RICHELIEU: Proud, Pompous, and Grasping, he uses his power over the King to indirectly rule the country. Calculating and Cruel he relies heavily on his henchmen to carry out his dirty work. His religion goes no further than his title.
SABINE: Full of Wonder and Mischief, Headstrong, and Adventurous. A young woman who has many dreams and ideas beyond her rank and station in 1600’s France. She’s the epitome of young heroines in modern literature.
MILADY: Seductive, Smart, and Dangerous. Hardened by a hard life and difficult circumstances she uses her assets to become the most dangerous woman in France. Mistress of disguise and deception. She harbors a hatred for the Musketeers.
CONSTANCE: Brave, Charming, and Kind. The picture of novel-esque romanticism. Lady in Waiting and confidant to the Queen. She is instantly lovable and warm, a glorified girl-next-door type with her feet firmly on the ground.
TREVILLE: World-weary, Strong, and Paternal. Not only the leader of the Musketeers but a role model to the Three and D’Artagnan. Also companion and Friend to the King, as he strives to keep the Cardinal’s hands off the throne.
KING LOUIS: Kind, Simple, and Conflicted. Trying to find himself and earn the love of his people and his Queen. He cares very deeply but prefers simpler pursuits than ruling the country.
QUEEN ANNE: Regal, Charismatic, and Proud. An Austrian princess married to France. Her marriage is mainly political and she has strayed with the handsome and charming British Noble, Buckingham, which puts her in grave danger.
ROCHEFORT: The one-eyed Henchman of the Cardinal. A strong swordsman and nemesis to the musketeers. He bows to the Cardinal’s powers, and often becomes an outlet for the Cardinals anger.
RAVANCHE: Second to Rochefort, blood thirsty and dangerous. A Bully.
D’ARTAGNAN’S FATHER: an ex-musketeer, and family-man. He is who D’artagnan endeavors to be.
BUCKINGHAM: Handsome British noble who is involved with Queen Anne, charming and sensual.
ADELE: Noble Lady, Flirtatious, Charming, often paired with Porthos.
ELISE: Noble Woman, Proud, Silly, often paired with Aramis
STANLEY: Buckingham’s servant, proper and rigid.
FACHE: A Cruel man in Beauvais who taunts the Musketeers.
INNKEEPER: Greedy proprietor of an establishment in Louvier, faithful to the cardinal.
MOTHER SUPERIOR: Headmistress of a Girls School in her convent.
ABBESS: Busybody leader of a convent.
D’ARTAGNAN’S MOTHER: Kind and Maternal, empty nester.
