Audition Information

Leapin’ Lizards! Theatre 121 will be holding open auditions for the upcoming production of Annie! Annie is a timeless celebration of hope, resilience and the power of finding where you belong.

Director Justin Charles, Choreographer Kelsey Medcalf, and Vocal Director Brandy Braxton are looking to cast actors ages 6 and up in this energetic musical. 

(The role of Sandy the dog has been pre-cast for this production.)

AUDITION INFORMATION:

Dates: Sunday, August 23rd, Monday, August 24th, Tuesday, August 25th  (Please look at times for your orphans and adults)

Callbacks will be by invitation only on Thursday, August 27. You will be notified by email no later than 10am on Wednesday if invited to attend. 

Location: Woodstock Opera House (121 W Van Buren St.)

AUDITION FORMAT:

For Female Presenting Orphans ages 6 and up ONLY:

We will be double casting all orphans.

  • Please prepare to sing our cut of Tomorrow. You will be singing with a track. 
  • Attached is the song and track.
  • ONE WEEK before auditions begin (August 16th), a video of a portion of the dance combination will be released. Please learn and prepare it to the best of your ability. 
  • During the dance portion of the audition, the video combination will be reviewed briefly before additional choreography is taught.
  • You will perform the full combination (the pre-learned choreography and the newly-taught choreography, for the casting team.

For Adults and Male Presenting Youth ONLY:

  • Please prepare 32-35 bars or a 90 second cut of a Broadway song. Auditioners will have the option of using the audition accompanist or using their own track. (No background singing or vocals of any kind if you use a track.) Please prepare accordingly. 

Everyone:

  • Please wear comfortable clothes to dance. Please bring jazz shoes or athletic shoes to dance in. No open toed shoes.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your audition time starts.
  • Headshots are not required.
    • A photo will be taken before your audition for casting purposes only.
  • Optional: Print and complete audition form ahead of time here

  • Be sure to sign up in the appropriate time slots.

REHEARSALS: 

  • If chosen for the cast, no conflicts will be allowed during tech week or performances.
  • Rehearsals will be held in Woodstock at SARA on Rt. 47.
  • Rehearsals will be held Sundays, Mondays,Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Sunday Rehearsals – Orphans and Hannigan 2pm-6:30pm; Adults (No Orphans) 7pm-9:30pm
  • MANDATORY ATTENDANCE required at:
    • our first all-call rehearsal Sunday, August 30th
    • both weeks of tech beginning Sunday, November 1st
    • all shows
    • conflicts during these times may affect casting.

TECH REHEARSALS*: Tech weeks are the weeks of November 1st and November 8th (Rehearsals Sunday through Thursday)

  • *Annie* – Girl, Age 11, Vocal Range A3-G5
    • A street-wise orphan; she is eventually taken in by Oliver Warbucks. Spunky, friendly, big-voiced.
  • *Orphans* – Girls, Ages 6-16
    • The other girls in the orphanage with Annie. These girls are gritty, neglected and vulnerable, yet basically honest and potentially loveable.
    • Includes Molly, Kate, Tessie, Pepper, July, and Duffy, as well as others without speaking lines.
  • Warbucks – Male, 35-60, Vocal Range B3-Gb5
    • A successful businessman with a warm heart. Rich, stiff-collared, bullish.
  • Grace Farrell – Female, 20-40, Vocal Range Bb3-G5
    • Faithful secretary to Mr. Oliver Warbucks. Poised, sweet, gentle.
  • Miss Hannigan – Female, 30-60, Vocal Range A3-F5
    • The orphanage matron who hates children but is fond of liquor. Very disillusioned, bitter, and cold.
  • Rooster – Male, 25-40, Vocal Range B3-G5
    • Miss Hannigan’s no-good brother looking for a quick buck. A sleazy, slick con man.
  • Lily  – Female, 20-35, Vocal Range B3-G5
    • Rooster’s girlfriend, who is also out for a quick buck. She is considered to be a floozy.
  • Bert Healy – Male, 30-45, Vocal Range E4-G5
    • The ultimate radio personality. He helps Annie by broadcasting about the search for her birth parents.
  • Roosevelt – Male, 40-60, Vocal Range Eb3-F4
    • The 32nd President of the United States. A Democrat and friend of Warbucks.
  • Ensemble – Any, Any (include two male-presenting youth)
    • Servants (Drake, Mrs. Greer, Mrs. Pugh), Boylan Sisters, Cabinet Members, Hooverville Citizens, People of NYC
