Bringing Live Theatre to McHenry County Since 1967

A whimsical and inspiring musical that celebrates the power of imagination, courage, and standing up for what’s right. Matilda tells the story of an extraordinary young girl with a sharp mind and vivid imagination who dares to change her own destiny, despite the challenges of her unkind family and a tyrannical headmistress. Packed with wit, heart, and unforgettable songs, it’s a joyful testament to resilience and hope.

Theatre 121’s vibrant 2020 production delighted audiences for two weekends before the final performances were cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving an enduring impression of creativity and spirit.
